A family celebration …

Here is a local family enjoying a birthday celebration out on the glorious Maple Durham stretch of the Thames..  Families are welcome to bring food and bubbles, or have them at our base in Pangbourne..

We offer sandwich lunch deals , served in the quiet bar at our base at The Pangbourne Club – all made by Mollie’s Cafe in Wallingford.

Alternatively, we offer cream teas served on linen in a private room – a high tea with sandwiches etc or just the (delicious) scones and cream, hand made by the talented chef at The Wallingford Tea Rooms.

Please call 01491 520227 / 07399 767 480 or email floatabilitycic@gmail.com for more information and prices.  Bespoke lunches and trip lengths or destinations are available by request.  See you on the water!

Welcome Julian !

Our first trip with Julian

We took a trip in the sun with South Oxfordshire Mind this week - under our full length canopy of course.
We negotiated the problem of a lock closure at Cleve with a little help from our friends at Goring Thames Sailing Club, who provided a base for us to have our lunch. A big thank you to them, without whom the trip would not have been able to go ahead....

First Trip, First Season – 2022 !

We made it out on the water for our first trip of our first season!

Our Volunteer, Adrian undertook his first trip crewing. Our participants enjoyed cream teas from The Wallingford Tea Rooms and fun was had by all.

If you would like to come out on board Talula 2 , then please do call us on 01491 599079 / 07399 767 480 or email floatabilitycic@gmail.com.

We operate at weekends and during the week. Ideally we would need a week or two notice to make sure that we have the volunteers to crew.

Enjoy a sandwich lunch from Mollie’s Cafe, Wallingford, or a cream tea by The Wallingford Tea Rooms- served in style at our base – The Pangbourne Social Club,  Or enjoy boxed to enjoy on the trip!

Dry Dock as Season Closes

“Talula 2” is off the water until next April, 2022

As the season closes for this year we at Floatability are collating all the feedback we have received from the launch and trial trips.

We are so very pleased that we have managed to launch this year against all the odds and are really looking forward to getting back on the water again.

Also to do this winter is to hone all of our policies and procedures.

Want to get involved?  We are looking for more volunteer assistant boat people so please do get in touch.

If you have any other points of feedback or any ideas we would also love to hear from you.

Volunteer Training

This is our new volunteer Colin driving the boat. We had a glorious day of sunshine … fingers crossed for good weather for our next training day next week… A big thanks to Goring Gap Boat Club for letting us train on site..

Launching this year

Launching this May 2021 .. Covid Permitting

We have taken the decision to launch this May 2021..

We feel that most of our participants and volunteers will have had a vaccination by this time and that the risks in our area, outdoors, will be low.

We will, however, be adhering to all government guidance and will be limiting group sizes accordingly.  Fingers crossed there will be no more mutations or spikes in cases…

Precautions such as the use of masks and hand sanitiser along with deep cleaning will be in place.

We will let you know the date of our virtual launch party asap!! 🙂

Training our volunteers

2nd Fundraiser Successful !

Thanks to the Greenham Common Trust for a top up match funding offer and also to some local residents of Wallingford for donating a broken car! We have now almost completed our second fundraiser with only £260 left to raise….

The money will be used to train our local volunteers in First Aid & First Aid with Mental Health, to buy an auxiliary outboard and bracket, uniforms and some fundraising equipment..

Thanks also to our Director Giles, for fixing the car so we could sell it on!

If you would like to donate, please click the link on our Home page..

See you out on the water ASAP..

We have a fully kitted out boat!

Following some hard work and help from volunteers and friends we have kitted out our boat. It is called Talula 2 for the moment just so that we can register for a licence, but we will be doing a name to boat fundraiser before we launch next year. Stay tuned.

Thank you to all those who have donated and supported us. We are very excited to start trading next Easter 2021, Covid permitting.

New Boat is arriving soon!

We are delighted to announce that we have enough funding to buy a boat. It is a little smaller than the one we were aiming for but is more that sufficient for our project needs. We would like to offer a big thank you to one of our directors, William Howard for agreeing to help us with purchasing the boat hull so that we can start taking people out on trips sooner rather than later 🙂

We are still fundraising for safety accessories, some £4,000 and hope to surmount this final hurdle before the end of the year. Watch this space.

Below are some pictures of an example boat – the same kind but not fitted out exactly as we need.  It seats 10 passengers.

Please see our donations link on the home page if you would like to help us get out on the water as soon as possible!
